On Thursday, numerous children became trapped in the debris of a devastating bus accident after their vehicle overturned while returning from a field trip. The bus, carrying approximately 35 students and two adults from Pine Ridge Middle School in South Carolina, lost a tire on I-77, leading to the crash. Several children were quickly transported to the hospital, and five medical helicopters were sent to the accident site. Disturbing aerial footage reveals the scene, with the bus lying on its side amidst heavy traffic. Children were taken to the hospital following the incident involving their school bus.
The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
Paramedics and firefighters also responded and the other students are being assessed at the scene.
Traffic was backed up on both sides of the highway and the southbound lanes are closed with the wreckage blocking the road.
